I...Promised!!!

Has anyone ever seen the Danny Phantom episode "The ultimate enemy"? Because if not then here's what it was basically about. The episode includes time travel with the main hero of the story meeting the villain from the future who just so happens to be...himself. It was an awesome episode. So in a way this is based on that episode along with the Injustice video game. There was just one thing that bothered me about it. To many people are eager to see Superman, this symbol of hope, corrupted. I'm getting sick of those stories at this point seeing as there are so many of them by now. Superman is not a guy that I could see snapping just from one tragic moment. He's already had plenty of those as it is and is still the hopeful beacon we want him to be. Everyone always expects this to happen to a character like superman but they never question it even as an afterthought to a character like batman who actually has a good reason to become a villain and yet never does. There was one good superman book that I read that actually covered a similar scenario as the injustice version. It's called "Ending Battle". Basically Lois "dies" and Clark is expected to SNAP and just kill the villain. Only except....he doesn't. Even after all the villain puts him through he still adheres to his morals. He basically has his "spider-man death of gwen stacey" moment and at least for a little while beats the crap out of the villain only to stop before delivering the final blow simply because he knows that committing this act would forever tarnish his wife's memory.

Anyway I feel that Superman as a character is at his best and most compelling when he is pushing and striving to do what he was made for. To help people in need. He's not here to fight and kill monsters like some gladiator. He's just here to protect and save people. Whether it be getting a cat out of a tree or plugging up a valcano it's why he's here. OR as Captain America once said "I don't want to hurt anyone. I just don't like bullies. I don't care where they are from". But to try to corrupt a character like superman doesn't do him justice. If anything it just hurts his character. Superman is a being who should be able to inspire us by going through such hardships..and keep on pushing past them despite them! So whenever I see an evil superman knockoff I just want to see the REAL Supes swoop in there and kick his own ass. I dunno I guess I'm just a sucker for stories where the evil version of a character gets beat by a good version of themselves. It just feels right. Fitting. If this were UltraMan then I honestly wouldn't have a problem with it considering he's SUPPOSED to be an evil version of Supes much like Flash has Reverse Flash and Green Lantern has Sinestro.

If anyone is wondering what is going on then allow me to explain. Supermane has seen what his injustice counterpart has done. While he may start out feeling sorry for him he will also be genuinely disgusted with what this version of him has become. Thus reaffirming his belief in how much harder he himself much remain strong for the sake of others to avoid situations like this. He has his moment just like in the DP show where he silently promises to himself and to his family and friends that he will NEVER become this. His evil counterpart asks him to repeat himself and Supermane does...alot LOUDER then expect. He lets loose a "new" power he previously did not know he had in the form of a Super Sonic Scream. This scream is so powerful that it causes Injustice Supermane's ears to bleed (that and it must suck to have super hearing to make it feel worse).
